Another FAshionista

I found Kristina-

who is an amazing seamstress... designer/re-designer...

www.kristinaclemens.blogspot.com/

Her fashion style reminds me alot of Tessa.

The top pictures are kristina

and these pictures are Tessa

( here's tess 15-20 years from now....)

I think what draws me.... to blogs like theirs....

is they have FUN with their clothes.

I am very -- conservative and safe when I dress...

and that is FINE... there is nothing wrong with that....

but it's nice to

once in a while

to add a little whimsy...

I love the idea of re-vamping clothing! That is just being THRIFTY and FRUGAL...
and I LOVE being thrifty and frugal!

Happy New Year!

I know
I am a little late- on wishing everyone a happy new year.

I've been busy!
I made a totally adorable ruffle shirt- out of a T-shirt!

I found this idea HERE
she has great ideas on how to extend the life of clothing- especially for FAST growing young kids.

But my project was a white T-shirt...
actually it had a stain on the front too!
(because I really am just a big kid myself.)
I added a white ruffle down the front- but modified it a little.
My ruffles- only go half way down the shirt....
not all the way to the bottom seam.
It turned out REALLY cute.
Also I've been obsessed with flowers on shirts and sweaters.
We spent Christmas in Utah - where all things are FAD and FASHIONABLE and it seemed EVERYONE had some type of flower or ruffle shirt-- except me!

I'll post more-- later promise.

I just wanted to acknowledge-

It's a new year.I was a complete slacker - in December (as far as posting/blogging)

BUT I am back on board...
so let's dust off our Personal Progress books
and get crack-a-lacken!
OH- PS
So here I am - in the bathroom... taking a picture of my outfit... that I wore to interpret... (notice the ruffles on my shirt?).
I am interpreting a different class... so you will get pictures of different bathrooms now...
BUT- I snapped this quickly- and then realized there was SOMEONE IN THE BATHROOM STALL>>>
how creepy is that??...
to be using a bathroom and

re-making a necklace

Learn how to make an accordian/ribbon/pearl necklace at Megan's site.

This one seems a bit formal. But I thought with Winter Balls and dances coming up- maybe you'll be looking for some ideas... a bit more formal.

I just thought it was really creative.

Also I was thinking of experimenting with some faux (fake) pearls my son gave me a few years ago... with some ribbon that is thin and maybe a different color than white.

That might make it more casual?

I don't know-

It will be fun to try...

Introducing.......

Tessa

She is a Senior this year in High School and blogging

Mostly about fashion.

I stumbled upon her site- while googling about Shabby Apple...
(i am a little green with envy- some how she scored a free dress from them!)
I love her post about Natural Beauty.

She is a fashionista - if I ever met one.
i love all her ideas about layering and playing with patterns.
I am a very boring. I usually have a solid top, and a print skirt. Simple.

She wears prints and stripes and floral etc... all together and makes it look adorable
and effortless.

Here are her thoughts on pairing patterns-
"When mixing patterns the main thing to keep in mind is balance.
The patterns on the top are smaller than the pattern in the skirt
Also keep only one color pallet going on.
I use the belt to break up the patterns and help it not look too busy."

I'm going to ask her to guest post too...
i think she has a great eye for fashion... and I love that she raids her mom and sisters closets.

She also found a really cute headband at the BYU-provo floral shop...
I think we should try to re-create.

Blog Button

Chesley- my new friend over at "Make You Over" is so adorable and helps women (young and old alike) find their style.

She was asked to teach a lesson on Modesty- and I pulled this picture of the hand out she passed out for the class.
I like the idea of finding your own style-
keeping it simple...
I mean- Heavenly Father really doesn't care
what we wear as long as it is modest, clean, neat...
it is more important what we do with our lives-
How we present ourselves, package ourselves
tells alot about:
-our beliefs about ourself
-who we truly are
-our standards
- our values
I asked her to guest post.
We'll see

Modest-AID

Some of my friends are upset about SHADE clothing going out of business.

(It was an on-line store where you could buy modest dresses, shirts and most importantly- undershirts that make everything you wear modest.) Confession: I bought a dress and 2 shirts on their site 2 weeks ago- such a great sale! They did have some adorable things....

But don't panic! We have options- sisters!

To show what a small world we live in...

my freshman/college roommates-sister

has a clothing site called

Molly's Clothing

2 years ago or so... my friend called ... trying to spread the word about her sisters site.

So to support a sistah out... (or a friend's sistah in this case)

I bought two Molly's shirts-

The mini cami-- which is like a half shirt... great to wear under dresses and tops where you just need added covering up on top.

Then the classic cap sleeve shirt-- to wear under other shirts .. that might need coverage up top, and on the length at the waist.

I've loved both of them. They are having a few sales now too.

It will be hard to find an affordable replacement for Shade: their shirts and dresses were cute.

But for finding the undershirts .. we still have options.
